H2848 Howard sterling Silver Chestnut Vase Circa 1907

Howard and Company of new York was a company known for quality. The work of Howard and Company can quite easily be compared to Tiffany and other important makers of the period. This urn has the original cranberry glass liner and is hand chased with swags, bows and flowers on the base and lid. The finial is in the form of a pineapple and there are three layers of leaves below the pineapple. The handles are cast and applied and terminate in two cast leaves on each side of the urn. Small original monograms on both sides. Height: 16 1/4". Weight: 48.2 troy oz. This form is a copy of a Dutch chestnut vase that was popular for classic lines. Marked on the base: Howard & Co. New York. 1907 Sterling.
