A small Gorham coin silver butter dish with original pierced liner. The dome has a band of fine engraving. There are two medallions applied, one on each side of the base. A fine Gorham sterling silver butter dish with an unusual oval form resembling a small tureen. The inner liner is intricately pierced with stars and patterns. It was quite common for a retailer to over mark pieces that had been bought in privately . The handles have a Greek key pattern on the outside and there is no evidence of a monogram removal. A pristine sterling silver tea tray with handles measuring 30 1/2" across the handles by 19". The tray has a rope border and a 1 3/4" ornate band of high relied chasing with chrysanthemums, roses and other flowers with leaves. The center oval has two concentric bands of engraving and has never been monogrammed. In addition to the hallmark, the tray is marked "hand decorated."

H3209 Eleder Hickok Custom Ordered Sterling Silver Table Garniture

A sterling silver table suite comprising four tall candlesticks 14 1/4" tall, a large centerpiece vase with sterling frog which can be used as a champagne bucket, 14" at finial, four pepper shakers 6 1/4" and four open salts 2 1/4" tall. Total weight: 220 troy ounces. All pieces have a custom embossed "D" monogram incorporated into the French influences scroll design with gadrooned borders. Eleder Hickok took over from Lebkuecher in 1918. The set has marks for both Eleder Hickok and Lebkuecher.

H2441 Hand chased Coffee Pot By J E Caldwell

A finely chased sterling silver coffee pot retailed by J E Caldwell of Philadelphia and most probably the work of Peter Krider. Circa 1870. Crisp sharp chasing of multiple flowers and leaves on the body which measures 11" tall. The handle and spout have a three dimensional vine with grapes wrapped around a naturalistic branch form. The handle has two ivory insulating inserts. The bottom, lid and neck is chased with a band of acanthus leaves. Weight: 28.7 troy ounces.

Condition: Excellent chasing with sharp detail, all in good order. The lid is hinged and there are no dents or flaws at all.

Total combined weight 34.85 troy ounces. All pieces are marked marked Stieff, Sterling, Hand Chased, 28 1/2"; the coffee pot is marked with an arrow which is the date mark for 1932, the sugar is marked with a W, the date mark for 1955 and the creamer with an X for 1956. The chasing depicts roses and chrysanthemums.

Retailed by J E Caldwell of Philadelphia but experience in looking at the style and detail of the chasing suggests that this is the work of Peter Krider of Philadelphia, Pa. Weight: 30.55 troy oz. A very large ewer by S Kirk and Son marked 925/1000 in superb condition. The chasing is unusual in that it includes cattails. There are also Chrysanthemums and other flowers. The handle is ornate and terminates in a griffin head at the top of the ewer. Height: 17 1/2" at the top of the handle. Weight: 41.05 troy ounces. Brilliant condition and excellent patina.

H2159 Large German Silver London Import Marked Boot Flower Vase

Large German Silver Boot shaped flower vase with rotating spur. The entire surface decorated with engraving and chasing and applied with ropes and buckles to give a third dimension to the detail. Even the sole is engraved under foot. there are two satyr faces on the top of the boot at the sides. Import marked with London marks for 1890, and with large German marks at the rim of the boot at the back. Weight: 28.35 troy ounces. Height: 10 1/4"

H2117 Frederick Elkington Three Piece Wine Decanter Set

Three piece decanter set by Frederick Elkington comprising a claret just, all silver and a pair of matching goblets. The decoration is both acid etched and engraved, highlighted with parcel gilding against a satin finish. The decanter has a scene of three cherubs at play surrounded by grape vines and leaves. Hallmarked, London 1875. There is a later inscription dated June 20th 1883 to a Reverend on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee.

The goblets are engraved in the same manner with a cherub at play with a goat. Incredible detail throughout.

H1617 Pair of Sterling Covered Dishes

A pair of finely chased Philadelphia sterling footed covered dishes. The floral chasing is extremely fine and there are faces on the applied cast feet. Both bases are marked sterling and Bailey Banks and Biddle. On one base below the sterling mark the maker mark of Krider of Philadelphia is visible. This would be the manufacturer, and the date would be between 1860 and 1875. 8 3/4" square. Height with the finial: 6" Combined weight: 91 troy ounces
