Rare Sterling Pen Desk Set designed by Lloyd Lucas, London 1949.Dimensions: 10" by 9" by 5" tall to the finial without the pens. The silver weighs an incredible 80 troy ounces.

The finials are a pair of ivory rams' heads facing away from each other which one sees in that remarkable post World War II 1950s architecture in the buildings in London.
The finials pull open to reveal 2 plastic ink bottles of the period. The hinge work is of the highest quality imaginable.  English silversmiths were the best at hinge manufacture.
The pens are four black Parker 51 fountain pens with all original equipment but with four custom made and matching sterling silver engraved caps.  These caps match the engraving of the set. There are two push buttons on the outside edge that open two compartments (one at each end) each containing two sterling silver hallmarked ashtrays, two in each compartment. The pedestal base has a real 50s look. This is an important piece for pen collectors.  The Parker 51 was a sensation when Parker brought it out and I would imagine that this was custom ordered by someone at that time.  The pen came out in 1941 during the war.
